The most important aspect of sunburn care is to avoid exposure to the sun while healing and to take precautions to prevent future burns. Take frequent cool showers or baths. Here are some natural and simple home remedies for sunburn.
Remedy for sunburn using Cucumber :
Blend 1 whole cucumber and store in refrigerator and use within 3 days. Apply it on the affected area which will provide relief from sunburn.
Remedy for sunburn using olive oil :
Apply olive oil on the affected area which will keep the skin supple, soft and soothing. This will get relief from sunburn.
Remedy for sunburn using Yoghurt and rose water :
Mix together 1 cup of plain yoghurt and 2 tablespoons of rosewater. Apply it on the affected areas to soothe and cool.
Remedy using aloe-gel:
Aloe gel is believed to have anti-inflammatory effects and is used topically to soothe burned skin and to help heal wounds. Take the gel of aloe vera and apply it on the affected area.

Honey provides an important part of the energy needed by the body for blood formation. Honey helps to maintain healthy hair and skin and is a great ingredient for home made medicines and cosmetics. It is an important ingredient in cosmetic lotions, balms, creams, and face masks. It has many healing properties. Regular intake of 1 tsp of honey is good for health. In addition to the excellent medicinal properties, honey is supposed to be a good thirst quencher. Honey is used extensively in home remedies and herbal remedies. Here are some properties of honey.
- Mixture of warm water, honey and 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder cures cold and cough.
- It is also beneficial for weight loss. Mix honey with few drops of lemon and take in the morning in an empty stomach.
- In cold, cough and congested chest mix 2 teaspoons of honey with equal quantity of ginger juice and should be consumed frequently.

Proper attention should be given to the hands as you give for your face because they play an important role in communication. Most people don’t take the time to care for their hands properly. It is very important that you take special care of your hand as the skin is very thin and delicate. Beautiful, well kept hands say a lot about a person. Here are some remedies for taking care of your hands. For soft and supple hands use moisturizing cream twice a day.
- For darkened elbow, apply a mixture of lemon juice mixed with milk cream. This keeps your hand soft and supple. Wash it with warm water after 30 minutes
- Elbow darkness could be removed by applying a mixture of cucumber and lemon juice in equal quantities. Wash after 15 minutes
- Mix almond oil and honey and apply with a gentle massage. Wash it off next morning.
- Mix glycerine, lemon juice with few drops of rose water and massage your hands in alternative days.
- Massage your hands with moisturizing creme regularly to stimulate circulation.
- Protect your hands by using gloves while washing dishes, dealing with chemicals and while gardening.
- Massaging with almond oil keeps hand beautiful.
- Wash your hands with warm water and when it drys off apply mixture of 1tsp of honey and 1 tsp olive oil. Keep it for 30 minutes and then rinse with water.
- If your hands are stained, you could rub lemon juice after washing.

Tulsi is known as Holy basil which is worshipped in the morning and evening by Hindus at large. It is considered as India’s Queen of herbs. They are largely used in ayurvedic meidicines. It has got medicinal properties as well as cosmetic properties. Tulsi is grown in almost all Indian homes.
- Water boiled with tulsi leaves is good for sore throat. It can also be gargled.
- Chewing tulsi leaves treats cold and flu.
- Tulsi leaf when eaten in the morning purifies blood.
- It can be used as tooth powder by drying its leaves and mixed with water.
- It helps in protecting the entire respiratory tract.
- Its has many cosmetic properties and used in herbal soap and also for body scrub. It helps in controlling dandruff. Tulsi oil can be used for controlling dandruff. It can be used by mixing with coconut oil.
For stomach ache:
- Tulsi leaves juice and ginger juice cures stomach ache, cramps and also gets relief from stomach worms.
- Tulsi or Basil leaves mixed with 1tsp of honey will cure severe cold.
